Boiler Remote Pstn-based Monitoring System

According to the characteristic of boiler operation, the current status and the trend of boiler monitoring system, we developed this Remote Boiler Monitoring System Based on PSTN. The IPC or PC is chosen as the control center and Windows 98 as the operating system. The paper discusses the design idea of the system software and hardware, the system architecture and the basic knowledge mentioned in this paper. Also some key parts are analyzed in detail.The system consists of one control center and several on site nodes. The main function of control center is to monitor the state of the on site node. It can also modify the parameters of the on site node. The main function of on site node is to gather the parameters of the boiler and adjust the state of the boiler through the actuating mechanism. If the parameters exceed the preset limits, the system will give out an alarm. Both the control center and the on site node can query the history record of the boiler operation. The control center and the on site node is connected by MODEM through PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Net). The control center is responsible to setup the connection, the on site node is responsible to answer the call and then the data are transferred.
