Information technology leads the new century of human civilization. The convenient, developed expressway is indispensable for economy. As the hub of expressway system, service area ensure the transportation of people, substance and information and the efficiency, safety and comfort of expressway transportation, with the development of expressway, people pay much attention to the landscape design of service areas and demand more on the accessory devices.The thesis analyzed the cause of the emerging and the meaning of service area's landscape design by retrospecting the origin of the expressway's service area, defining the concept of the service area and the relative aspects and remarking the situation of native and foreign expressway development . Based on the analysis of the content and character of landscape planning and design, the thesis tried to combine the principle of landscape design with the design of the service area, discussed the non-obstructive design of service area and formed the service area's landscape design system. The thesis also analyzed all kinds of serving spaces, devices and the norms of all elements of service area. In the end, the thesis introduce several example to illustrate the views mentioned above.
