The main topic of this paper is about steel pipe strapping machine. According to analyzing machine construction and process principle of this system produced by Simatic Group. Germany, a global scheme of this system is provided; controlling system of this machine is composed of PROFIBUS-DP as central technology, Simatic PLC as DPM1, industrial PC as DPM2 is established.Firstly, the paper introduces currently developing condition of steel strapping machines and other technologies involved, at home and abroad. Then, the existing shortcomings of steel pipe strapping machine in our country are given. The main work of this paper should be completed is concluded in this chapter.In chapter two, by closely researching the required capacities and process principles of this system, project of system design is established.In chapter three, the paper describes designing of machine constructions and transmissions in this system.In chapter four, integrated electrical system in this machine is given; how to realize controlling all machine elements is narrated; PROFIBUS technologies and its application in this machine are discussed.In chapter five, scheme of controlling software in this machine is discussed. Functional blocks of softwares used in industrial PC and PLC are divided.In chapter six, the work of dissertation is summarized and prospect of improving direction of system is presented.
