This thesis focusing on the co-related and mutual-active relationship between human being and environment, angling from leisure, systematically researches and illustrates on many aspects which should be put great attention to in the works of the public greenland design which is an important composing part of urban out-door leisure spaces. After the introduction of the related human being's leisure needs, behavior and sites etc., the author put the research emphasis on how to truly make joint coordinate and harmony between human being and environment through the work of landscape design. Namely, taking satisfying human being's leisure needs as the final goal to carry on the leisure space design of urban public greenland. The thesis sums up the general development conditions of home-and-abroad public greenland and its important role played upon urban. During the research process, taking Shanghai as the sample, the author has done twice questionnaire on out-door leisure sites and behavior. Based on the gathered information and data from questionnaire, which involves rearrangement and analysis work, and centered on principle of "Humanism", from aspects of Space Constitution, Landscape Elements, Traffic and Facilities etc., combined with various people's leisure behavior in public greenland in Shanghai, the author conducts detailed analysis and presents practical suggestions; also, according to different public greenland users' behavior characteristics, classifies the users by ages. Summing up all those, the thesis puts forward a series of basic principles which great importance should be attached in the public greenland design work. Finally, the thesis analyses on the landscape design of the living example "Huan Cheng Xiyuan Public Greenland" of Xi'an, expecting the fulfillment of the researched theory put forward in this thesis.
