The excitation control of synchronous gene rators is one of basic m e ans that ensures the stable operation of power syst em a nd im proves the dynam i c character of power system. Perfor m a nce and reliability of ex cita tion control d i rec tly decides and influences the ef fect of synchronous genera tors in the power system . Reliability is particularly im portant f actor to weigh the quality of excitation system . (1 ) In chapter 1,the f undam e ntal and curr ent status of S G is generalized after consulting the references. And the trend of the SG and its excitation control is also generalized. ( 2 ) In this thesis , a dig ita l m a gnet exciti ng device of SG , using technology of 196 single-chip m i crocom puter as a co re. The principle of the hardware and software has been introd uced, with the circu it d i agram , the flow chart an d list of the program . T o m a ke th e regulator have high ope rating reliable, the design adopts two-channel architecture i.e. it is consist of two c o m p letely identical and independent channels. ( 3 ) The key to enhance the power system . s stability is to choos e the appropriate SG. s excitation control m e thod. The variable structure control is used to SG. s control. The m e thod is com p ared with the P I D controller . And the sim u lation. s result shows that the variable structure control m e thod is ef fective and feasible. ( 4 ) In the paper , the s o f t ware lib r a ry of SG - Excitation system has been built on the theo ry basis of the pred ecesso r , includes ordinary power system com ponents m odels and typical exci tation m odels for period study of excitation regulato r . The PowerS ystemSi m ulink sim u lation for SG - inf i nitiv e source system has been com posed. The Si m u lation process is m o stly depend on simulink , the software package of Matlab, and it also con s ult the po wer system analys is software package of Electric Power Research Institute. In the end, a conclusion is m a de and the future research are prospected.
