It is very difficult to clean out the ice and snow on the cities roads and high way in a fast economical and efficiency way. The practical methods of removing snow and deicing such as mechanical technique and chemical technique have advantages and disadvantages. They can not fulfill the demands of high speed, low cost and environment protection. In this thesis the practical methods of snow removing and deicing is studied and concluded, a new method which combines thermal means with mechanical one is discussed. The method is developed by the group of Dept. of Power Eng. (Dalian Univ. of Technol.) An infrared-heating device is designed by the author using electromagnetic and thermal knowledge. The mechanism of infrared-heating is discussed; the heat generation rate of the thin slide is calculated; The physics model and FEA model of infrared-heating is proposed; A program is developed to simulate the temperature field in the ice slide using the APDL of ANSYS, which can be convenient to simulate the temperature field in ice layer under different running parameters and environmental conditions. In order to determine optimum parameters of deicing, evaluate the efficiency and the economy cost of the new method before the real manufacture is produced, The different temperature field is simulated; the effect of different conditions and parameters on the ice layer temperature is studied too by the way of FEA and thermal simulation. The parameters of the device and heater are established by means of numerical analysis and thermal simulation.
