For a long time, in the process of the ship piping design, handcrafted statistic is the dominating method to achieve the material management. Due to the defect of the method, such as the low efficiency and high error rate, the advanced technology is needed to deal with the large and complex information in the process of data distill, intelligent statistic and the fast transfer. Under this background, this paper researches the bill of material of the ship piping system, then designs and realizes the material data automatic distilling, intelligent statistic and the creation of the user view.Firstly this paper summarizes the research actuality of the field of engineering bill of material in ship piping system, then analyzes the user requirement of the actual environment in the ship piping design using the technology of CAD and BOM, and establishs the total solution of the system. Subsequently, this paper designs the data stream, the pological structure, the function structure, the database structure and the assembly trees. Whereafter, the distilling process is described with the usage of the Object ARX technology. Then the design and the realization of the intelligent statistics process is illustrated. Thereinto, the intelligent statistics process is the significant embodiment of the intelligence of the system. The user view display is the process of especial expression of the ship piping engineering material information. On the basic of the discussion of the user view plan, this paper expounds the realization of the user view based on the ActiveX technology and the Word template. Finally, the integration of the system is presented. This process achieves to make a whole application system and constitutes the interface which makes the system more convenient for the user.The engineering bill of material has been applied to the factual ship design and manufacture, and achieves the intention of the efficiency enhancement, the improvement of the enterprise standardization, and the shortage of the design cycle.
