Hardware-in-loop simulation(HIL) is a hardware in loop and real time modern methodology that embed the hardware to simulation software through using computer I/O technology and simulating the system run estate. Using HIL can reduce the time and cost in developing engine electronic control system. The paper present that validate the logic&arithmetic and confirm the system parameters of engine electronic control system, test the engine performance through simulating the physical circumstance. With Matiab/Simulink build the simulation models of engine electronic control system, connect the models to a real automotive engine, realize the hardware-in-the-loop simulation. The main work conducted in this paper is as following:1. build the fuel injection simulation models and ignition timing simulation models in engine electronic control. Build the sensor simulation models and design the control logic and arithmetic according the control rule.2. make the signal collecting board and realize the accurate collection and transmission. Build the simulink I/O models that connect the real I/O board and realize connecting the real engine and simulation models. Using the Realtime Workshop realizes the HIL simulation of the engine electronic system. To simulate the engine fuel injection and ignition timing carry HIL experiment through simulating kinds of trenchant physical circumstance. Also in experiment can real timely modify the system perimeters and control logic, immediately get the estimate of the feedback. Therefore HIL simulation is a effective method that is safe and economical solution that reduce the time and cost in developing engine electronic control system and has a wide market.
