In order to enhance passivity security of vehicles and decrease the number of casualties, the clash passiveness characteristic and protecting passengers of vehicles structure need be studied in design stage. Vehicles crash simulation is a good way that can forecast the clash characteristic of vehicles, decrease cost and speed up the new cars'development.The thesis detailedly states the dynamic explicit non-linear finite element method. It includes basic crash equation, time integration algorithms, relative element about car crash simulation, contact-impact algorithms and relative material property used at car crash simulation etc, and set proper parameters.This paper take a car as an example, the complete finite element model of a SUV built by HyperMesh was presented. A car frantal crash according to GB 11551-2003 was successfully simulated by LS-DYNA, and the results include the car's displacement, velocity, acceleration and the force through main section, achieved comprehensive and credible appraisement with the frontal crash performance.According to the simulation of car frontal crash, an unreasonable deformed part was found and improved . As a result , the crash worthiness was improved.
