VXI waveform analyzer is a powerful tool for signal analysis and testing. VXI bus is VME bus Extension for Instrumentation. VXI-Bus-based Test Technology is recognized as one of the most excellent platforms in the instrument and automatic test system in the 21st Century .The design of VXI waveform analyzer module is the perfect realization of the idea Virtual Instrument (VI). VI is based on PC platform, and can make use of the software and hardware resources of a PC. Compared with a traditional instrument's flexibility and ability of data processing, VI has a low price, which means it is a good choice to adopt VI in the automatic test system. The software design and realization of VXI waveform analyzer is the main aim of this task. It includes the design of Soft Panel and the program for waveform analyzing and processing. The Soft Panel can be directly generated on the computer screen. It is a graphic interface similar to the panel of a traditional instrument, which is mainly used for the control of the instruments' functions such as the displaying test results and the data acquisition process, etc. The software for waveform analyzing and processing directly affects the whole function of the VXI waveform analyzer module. LabWindows/CVI is chosen as the programming tool, which gives the designed software much more flexibility.First, this dissertation gives a brief description about the function of VXI waveform analyzer, the current research status of VXI bus and the conception of Virtual Instrument. The dissertation also discusses the basic design ideas of the Soft Panel and the program for waveform analyzing and processing, including the design of the software structure, the design of the user interface and so on. Furthermore, the program flow charts, the soft panel graphics and the source code of the design are presented in the dissertation. At last, the debugging environment and the test method, are described. And some examples for testing the software are given.The VXI waveform analyzer discussed in the dissertation has passed authentication in Dec. 2003. It has been proved that the described software has a high reliability and the convenience in manipulation.
