One underlying problem in hydraulic engineering is that we haven't a strict theory to control the connection quality of hose assembly, i.e. we have no reasonable mathematic models in the designing of hose connector and the controlling of its swaging quantum. So the application of engineering and the national standards are based on experiments. If the control system of the swager is based on experiments, it will result in something inaccurate. Under these circumstances, the following work is done.Firstly, a finite element model of the saw-tooth hose assembly that is applied comprehensively in hydraulic engineering is established. In the model, the relation between its strain and stress is obtained. And some factors on the connection quality of hose assembly are analyzed, and the quality control rules of hose assembly and the corresponding control strategy are put forward on the basis of the above-mentioned models.Secondly, according to the connection quality control rules of hose assembly, an automatic control system based on single chip is designed. In order to realize its visual manipulation, windows programming method is introduced during the programming of single chip, the related analysis method is adopted in real time monitoring, so the system can catch the information of the location of characteristic region of the contact pair-sleeve's inner teeth and the steel layers, and control the hose assembly's swaging process automatically.Thirdly, swaging and blowing-up experiments are carried out; the results proved the model's correctness and the control method's validity. Among the above work done there are the following new ideas.a. In designing theory, the quality control rules of hose assembly is put forward, and get rid of the limitation of the traditional way that the swaging quantum be determined by only experiments.b. The mechanics model of hose assembly is established for the first time.c. The method of designing the connector thought changing the distance between its contiguous teeth is put forward, and the structure is simulated with the finite element method.This study has the above breakthroughs in theories, which can provides a theoretic foundation for engineering application. At the same time, an automatic control system of the swager is designed, and the swaging efficiency and the connection quality are improved greatly. So it must have practical engineering value.
