At Present, the highway construction is developing raaidly in our country. Designers need appropriate pavement structure and criterion for highway design urgently, so as to avoid random and blindness.Considering the important influence of climate on the performance of asphalt pavement, This paper has studied the design temperature of asphalt pavement and the climate applicability of asphalt and asphalt mix according to weather data in Liaoning province, and graded the asphalt according to performance with reference to SHRP Plan. According to the influence of temperature and humidity condition, departing Liaoning province to three zones on asphalt pavement performance, which will guide the asphalt mix design method. This paper performed the survey on typical asphalt pavement of main highway in Liaoning province, and finded the existing problem on asphalt pavement structure and performance. Investigation was made on origin of base material. On the base of the condition of climate, material and performance generally, this paper lecommended appropriate structure of asphalt pavement in Liaoning province. Considering the difference between the axle load effects on different season, amended the season parameter when converting axle load. At the same time, graded soil-matrix intensity and traffic. In the end, according to the asphalt pavement construction practice and traffic, natural situation and origin of material, submit the typical pavement structure and design guide on the basis of appropriate structure in Liaoning province, which will guide design and construction of asphalt pavement scientifically.
