The Universal serial bus (USB) is a new plug-and-play hardware interface which is specified to be an industrial standard extension to the PC architecture. The simplicity of USB and its extensive adoption in computer operating systems make it an attractive option for many secondary applications.Medical laser film printer is an important part of medical image equipments, and has key function in diagnoses. With the high speed development of Information and Computer Technology, it will become one new trend to apply the technology of USB in medical laser film printer.This paper is organized as follows. Section 1 discusses the advantages of medical film printer and USB, and put forward one elementary design scheme of the system. The principle of laser printer and the holistic design scheme of system are presented detailedly in Section 2, while Section 3 expounds the technology of USB. Section 4 discusses design scheme of transfer system of the laser printer - includes the development of USB device and CPLD. The test of holistic laser printer and effect picture of medical image are presented in Section5. In the end, a review of this system and some bugs are put forwards at present. Simultaneity, suggestions to improve the system is also presented.This M.S. degree project's main gain is to research and develop the USB tech in data transfer system of medical infrared laser film printer, and provide a feasible and doable total solution.
