The color measurement and comparison is one of research items in chromatics and industry with color all the while. With the development of the autocontrol and the detection technology, the method and accuracy of color measuring have been greatly improved. Nevertheless, the color-measuring apparatus always have a complicated design and are of high cost. To meet the requirements of the medium and small enterprises, it has practical significance to design and create a low-cost but useful color difference meter. In this dissertation, a chromometer system is discussed, which is designed based on principles of chrominance and controlled by AT89C51 Single-Chip Microcomputer. It uses photovoltaic cells as optoelectronic conversion device, which covered with three corrected optical filters for red, green and blue respectively. The voltage got is converted to data by ADC0809, after that the data is read and processed by the Single-Chip Microcomputer. At the end, the result is displayed on character LCD panel. The chromometer we made is convenient to use, and the cost is low.The three corrected optical filters for red, green and blue are designed and made with the method of vacuum deposition thin-film coating, that cause the color sensor is simply made at low cost.In this dissertation, the method of design and fabrication to the three corrected optical filters and the chromometer system are introduced in detail. And the results of experiment measuring are given, too. Furthermore, the problems met in fabrication of the system are also analyzed. The structure of the dissertation is as follows:Firstly, the basic theory about chromatics is explained briefly and a method of measuring color and color aberration is advanced. Then, on the basis of the theories about vacuum thin-film coating, the design and techniques of thin-film coating to the three red, green and blue corrected optical filters are presented as well as the experimental results.Furthermore, the whole design of the chromometer system is analyzed, which include hardware design and software control.
