With the development of power automatization technology, it is more and more advanced for the level of automatization in power system. Many places such as power plant, transformer substation, communication station, etc need improving production benefit through monitor system. We have realized telemetering, remote sensing, telecontrol, remote adjusting functions. The long-distance image monitor system can add as the fifth remote function. We call it remote visual. More and more power companies make the long-distance image monitor system as their new managing measure.The long-distance image monitor system makes the monitor center in the power distribution management center. It builds visual, audio and data collecting unite in each electric substation. Also it can build the monitor center in the power plant or substation to monitor the equipments, instruments and operational environment. We can know and get the run of all the monitoring unit's situation intuitionistic and directly at the real time through monitoring the correlative data and image. With these we can do the reaction in time for the conk. The monitor system can help us store, analyze the relevant data to support us improving or decision. This kind of system is fit for the development of power modernization.This article analyses and compares many communication channels used in the power system. It is up with the quick development of communication technology, propose one new image monitor system based on CDMA. It can affirm the feasibility and universality of the rising communication medium applied to electric power automatization through analyzing the structure and character of CDMA. Then it can comment the great value of this kind of system improving the power automatization degree, reliability and real time. The CDMA network provides a kind of quick and credible communication mean for the electric power automatization, which is easy expansion and maintenance. So the long-distance image monitor system based on CDMA has many advantages such as no installation work, down the construction cost, many expense save, short construction period, strong expansion ability, high reliability, quick transmission rate, great real time, etc. As long as the places covered with CDMA network, we can make the image monitor at any time. This is the real removing monitor.The article introduces the operational principle of image monitor based on CDMA connecting with the Internet in detail. Then design the long-distance image monitor scheme with the CDMA VPN network, which can apply with power plant's water source station. It refers to the network mode of the system, structure of modules in the monitor unite, dependent compress standard, arithmetic off the background and the function, which the system background should have. The paper puts forward the improving and developing way for the wireless image monitor system.With the realization of perfect long-distance image monitor system basedCDMA, the long-distance image monitor of electric power automatization system must be injected into new vitality. This new scheme will contribute to the improvement of power automatization.
