Smart Single-phase Meter Design

According to the plan of building the middle-class residence decided by building department of China, the engineering to implement the water , electricity, warm, etc. of old and new building to be controlled uniformly. It was suggested by the incumbency that a system of reading the meter data from long distance automatically should be designed with using the existing campus network.The subject titled by 《the system of reading data from long distance automatically》 was applied for ,this design 《the intelligent electricity meter》 is a part of the subject. At the same time, it is also one of the designing topics of the teaching model in the electricity automation laboratory.By investigation, the redesigned electricity meter on the old one is widely used due to saving money. With the development of electronics, sensor, automatic control and computer technique, single chip computer has been applied extensively in the industry control, intelligence instrument, family appliances etc. as a branch technique. 8051 is adopted to sample the ac current and voltage and to calculate the power parameter precisely for the purpose of the both mentioned above. The functions are LED displaying, alarming when 30% over-current, over-voltage and under-voltage occurring, and communicating with the management computer through the series port with some protocols.
