Freeway Ramp Control

Traffic problem is an important problem all over the world, which seriously influenced the normal run of society economy. The increasing of expressway traffic quantity has brought forward a higher request on expressway control. On-ramp control is the most effective way to improve traffic condition of freeway.The traditional traffic control methods based on precise mathematics models are complex and their application effects cannot reach the expectation, so developing a new control method is necessary. This paper adopts fuzzy control to make intelligent control of on-ramp, achieve to control the on-ramp regulating rate, and using Matlab software to simulate the on-ramp regulating rate.Multi-agent technology is a hot spot in the artificial intelligent field .Single agent can control its object automatically and initiatively. The cooperation among multi agents can improve the intelligence of the whole system .According to the traits of freeway, multi-agent structure of vehicle agent, ramp agent and road agent are put forward on-ramp control. And the structure, function and control way of these agents are expatiated in this paper. Their communication way and communication language are introduced. It is the basis of studying freeway traffic control based on multi-agent.
