China has extensive low-voltage grid especially in county areas and sub-county ares where we can see the largest rural grid in the world. Chinese rural grid covers 90% of the country and has a duty of provide power service for the development and production of rural areas and living of rural population. Consumers have a increasing higer demand for the reliability of electric-power supply while the raise of the consumption level of electric power . In present there lies some problems in the building of grid such as irregular layout and planning of the grid , too much line lose and detour electric supply, irreasonable choice of low-voltage distribution devices which could give a perfect protection, arbitrary arrangement of switching line and swithcing out line which bring about potential dangers and increased power lose, the low level management of rural low-voltage grid and need to improve the quality of employees , etc.And now,there is nationwide building and upgrade of city and rural elecric grid which is extreme is scale and is tough task and needs great effort. And it is a huge investment in electric building area and is also a precious opportunity and a tough challenge and examine for electric departments. There should be a series of difficulties in the process of upgrade of rural grid. The goal only could be achieved if these difficulties could be resovled properly. The most important work which confront rural electric workers is to give out a reasonable layout and high level work and could optimize grid structure and lower lose , save power.This essay combined practical experience and rural grid upgrade project ratified by PANYU POWER BUREAU , on the basis of rural low-voltage grid upgrade of SHAWAN town of GUANGZHOU city PANYU distric to discribe the planning and upgrade of low-voltage and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the planning.If this essay can give out any help and advice for the workers who engaging the layout , planning , engingeering and maintenanence of rural electric grid that would be my best pleasure.This essay consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 also preface indicates the purpose andmeaning of this project;Chapter 2 outlines the technical principles and relevant knowledge of layout and planning of rural grid upgrade which emphasizes the choice of position ,capacity and model of distribution transformer and the meaning of reactive compensation ,the methods of reactive compensation as well as the new developement of reactive power compensation power saving technologies;Chapter 3 gives a detail description of technical methods adopted in the upgrade of rural grid of SHAWAN town of PANYU district and put forward revised sheme that is pratical and benefit the future development of rural grid after the difficulties have been resolved in this process;According to post-upgrade benefits that that come from the actual operation data of the villages of SHAWAN town Chapter 4 justifies the feasibilities of upgrade sheme.
