As a practical technology which is developing rapidly in the world, frequency conversion and speed control is applied in the electric machine driven system more and more extensively. This paper firstly analyzes various kinds of usual medium-high voltage frequency converters which are prevalent at the present day, and then discuss the reliability, merit/demerit and application boundary of medium-high voltage frequency converters in different circuit configuration, propose several viewpoints for the lectotype principle, and analyze frequency converter's various kinds of control mode. After analyzing the saving energy space using frequency converter in the power station auxiliaries, combining the power station auxiliaries, especially the features of thermal power station auxiliary equipment and high voltage frequency conversion and speed control technology, this paper elaborates the saving energy mechanism, and certify the saving energy effect and calculation method when the high voltage frequency conversion technology is applied in wind-driven machine or pump equipment through typical instances. As the frequency conversion remodel project of power station auxiliaries is generally set up on the basic of using intrinsic power equipment, this paper indicates several key problems which should be considered first when the power station auxiliary is having frequency conversion lectotype or remodeling and can be the reference when power station is having auxiliary frequency conversion control remodeling.As the first power station using MW-level large scale frequencyconversion, Shandong Century Electrical Power Stock Corporation comes out top in the application practice of large scale frequency conversion in domestic power station. The function experience, examining and repairing experience and the state of equipment running can provide experiences to the application of large scale motor speed control system. This paper gives detailed introduction to the frequency converter's application of kind, state, spot feature and generated problem and elaborates the saving energy effect combining spot digital statistics. As analyzing the frequency converter's features, power station auxiliary equipment system and station service's features and frequency converter's application effect, this paper illustrates the frequency conversion technology's application prospects in the power station using spot running data, and proposes the frequency converter's application direction: the install target of large scale frequency converter considers the power station's problem of saving energy, and the small scale's install target is applied to automation and the enhancement of function's security stabilization. At the finishing section of this paper, the writer combines the reality experience and problem when frequency converter is applied in the corporation, for example, the output moment of low voltage frequency converter is on the low side, the high voltage frequency converter is loss of power and restarting, control power supply stabilization etc. and gives definite fault cases, lists some problems which are common when frequency converter is applied in the power station auxiliary and have great influences to the security stabilization of frequency conversion control system. After detailedanalyze, this paper proposes reasonable method and resolve measure. These problems often appear after remodeling the frequency converter control system in many power stations, and it is the reason why some import frequency converters can't be applied successfully in the domestic power station. The writer hopes that this paper can offer experience to the domestic power station, especially when having auxiliary frequency conversion control system remodeling.
