The paper is made up of two sections. First section is about the design of a multi-channel and fast measurement system of spectrum, Second section is about the research of diffuse ambient contrast measurement based on Spectroradiometry for flat panel displays.In the traditional Spectroradiometres, PMTs are used as the receiver, and a wavelength scanning structure is used to realize wavelength scanning. This kind of Spectroradiometres features complex structure, large volume and long scanning time, they can't realize multi-wavelengths measurement simultaneously, can't be used for field works and can only be used in the laboratory. In this paper, a method on how to design a multi-channel Spectroradiometre is introduced. In the design, we used a multi-channel detector as the receiver, a flat field holographic concave grating as the dispersing element and it results fast scanning, much smaller and it can realize multi wavelengths measurement simultaneously for on-line and field work. In the design we finished the following work: First, design of a small dispersing system in which there are only two components: a multi channel detector and a flat field holographic concave grating, it avoid the interference from sub-diffraction-spectrum and improve the resolving power;Second, design of driving, sampling system for multi-channel detectors;Finally, the wavelength calibration method is discussed accordingly. This system realizes ms range measuring speed, 190nm-900nm spectrum range, 10~5dynamic range, though only with <0.5m × 0.2m × 0.3m size.As a promising industry, the flat panel display has been dramatically increasing its share in the display market, and has become one strut of the electronics industry. Contrast is an important parameter to evaluate the quality of FPDs. Traditionally, contrast is measured by the luminance of FPDs, although the measurement condition may be slightly different, in these methods, the luminance and illuminance are measured for full-screen white and full-screen black under lighting environment. In our study, we used a standard illumination source to get the spectral reflectance function of the screen for full-screen white and full-screen black, respectively. Then,based on this spectral reflectance function, we can calculate the contrast of the FPD as long as the spectrum distribution on the FPD is available. Our work mainly includes design and construction of the experiment platform, deduction of spectral reflectance function of the screen for both full-screen white and full-screen black, analysis of the experimental data, and validation of this method. Finally, we proposed an improved experiment method to deal with the fluorescence-effect of some FPDs when illuminated.
