Transportation is the life of economy and living, and weighs the symbol which a city civilization progress. Signalized intersection, as the basic unit of city road network, its travelling capability directly influences road network travelling capability. The research has important theory significance and practical value. This paper launches research to the signalized intersection which is the traditional research object of city transportation area, uses a new research method and stands the altitude from traffic organizing optimal design, at the same time follows closely on the domestic newest research results, and links Beijing Transportation R&D Center's key scientific research item "Beijing ITS system programming and implementation plan research" fifth division topic "Signalized Road intersection Simulation Optimization Design System".Firstly, this paper introduces the domestic and foreign present research situation and correlative knowledge, proposes the method of traffic organization optimal and plan estimate; Secondly, this paper depicts signalized intersection organization optimum detailed from method of transit, channelization design and signal design, namely carries on the synthesis optimization design, makes every effort to optimize for the signalized intersection traffic organization provides some scientific, comprehensive and practical theory and method. In the research of transit method, author proposes a new method-transit by matching travelling capability; Finally, this paper uses micro-simulation software VISSIM, estimates signalized intersection traffic optimal organization given in the paper by practice, and draws the conclusion.
