The substation automation system always has a computer to convert the protocol because the protocol of RTU and FUT are not consistent;but this way can't give the problem a perfect solution because if the system is updated or some devices are replaced will occur some problem and this problem always can't be solved simply, it needs a great deal of money and many time. To using a computer to convert the protocol might prolong the fault solution time and sometimes some private protocols are hard to convert. As the some time, with the developing of new communication technology, the system is hard to use the new technology, because the application and the communication are not separate. If we want to use it the whole system must be completely changed. The present substation automation system generally uses the tradition structure based on C/S, if there are some new demands of application the server and client must give relative change.This paper uses IEC61850 and MAS to solve upper problem. IEC61850 is the standard about substation automation communication network which is constituted by IEC. This standard makes the product's interchange as its goal. IEC61850 uses the technology of the separation of the communication and the application and both are combined by SCSM. In this way, with the developing of the communication technology, we can use the advance communication technology without change the application system and can protect the application layer's investigation.The MAS mainly researches the corporation of the agents and how to solve the problem by the cooperation between different agents. The substation automation system based on agent is more apperceive, more active and more adaptable and it can give a perfect solution to the problem of the present substation automation system. In this paper the proposed substation automation system divides the whole system into many sects which are relative independence and several lays;when the fault come forth, the system firstly judges whether the fault can be solved by its own sect ,if it can not be resolved ,it will pass the problem to its upper layer manage agent ,the upper layer manage agent analyses the problem firstly ,after that the upper layer manage agent makes the sects that need to work together to cooperate with each other.By this way the system can avoid not necessary communication resource and reduce fault solution time.In order to discuss the application of this two new technology used in substation automation system, this paper mainly analyses the information integration. This paper analyses IEC61850's communication part and modeling part detailedly and mainly analyses FIPA MAS's communication theory % the manage and reference model defined by FIPA and the communication style of MAS. The paper analyses two technologies mapping in the OSI model. In order to let semantic unification, we brought the concept of the RDF. The paper analyses how to store RDF data in data base and how to transform RDF query to SQL query.
