IEC 61850 standard series are the substation automation system communication related international standards constituted by IECTC57, which indicate the orientation of substation automation's developments in the future. With the development of electronic current and voltage transformer, intelligent switchgear, and detect online technology, there is not any analog signal in the secondary system of Hydraulic Power Station, which called Digital Hydraulic Power Station. In this kind of station, all data are transmitted by uniform communication protocols in the form of digital, and all intelligent devices in the station can interoperate each other. Nowadays, various protocols used in the electrical power system of China can't insure the exactly, rapidly collecting and processing, and the real-time information transmitting from the power station or substation to the terminal user interfaces.After the development above twenty years, computer supervisory control and automation system has been widely used in large and hydraulic power station. But mostly of signal in station is still analog signal, so computer supervisory control and automation system will be disturbed by electromagnetic signal. With the development of intelligent electronic device, the use of advanced network technology, the practice of IEC61850, all qualifications for the full digital hydraulic power station can be enabled. Digital hydraulic power station can solove the problem of electromagnetic disturbance, depreciate the cost of produce, and it can accelerate the standardization of intelligent device's communication interface, enhance the interoperate ability of devices.On the reasons above, the author start to study on how to introduce the IEC61850 standard series into the hydrodynamic power station, and unify the communication protocol, and enhance the interoperate ability of intelligent devices in the hydrodynamic power station.This dissertation introduces the background, function and actuality of IEC 61850 at the beginning, and then brings forward the concepts of the narrow sense digital hydrodynamic power station and the broad sense digital hydrodynamic power station. After that, a instant with station model and IED models built with Substation Configure Language (SCL), and with the implement of communication between IEDs, IEDs and control centers, IEDs and dispatch centers using the Abstract Communication Service Interface (ACSI) mapping to Manufacture Message Specification (MMS). At the last, the defects of my work are summarized.
