Because of its construction speed and low cost, metal plate wood truss is widely used in light wood frame construction. But for various reasons, in our country light wood frame construction is still in its infancy, the metal plate joint first appears in the new code for design of timber structures. As lacking of metal plate joints' research and engineering accumulation, metal plate joint of our norms is mainly referring to the Canadian norms, it is not consummate , so it is of great significant to study the metal plate truss of the light wood frame construction.Firstly, this paper introduces the light wood frame construction development, as well as its strengths, forms, power transmission ways, then makes metal plate joint and wood truss's classification, and gives details of their design, manufacture and transportation process. Secondly, we introduce two mainly ways of metal plate wood truss calculations: the first is from the code for design of timber structures, and the second is FEM. In accord with the principles of the FEM, design process can be programming to meet the project needs. Since it allows a certain slippage, because of its special constitutive relation, metal plate truss can not be solved by ordinary FEM. Approach is to introduce fictitious element with variable rigidity to simulate metal plate joints to the state power, the original one element is divided into two fictitious element with virtual rigidity and intermediate entity element, and then use the spring establishes contacts principles will be two fictitious elements and other one entity element pole modules for integration equivalent element, and last use ordinary truss calculations theory calculation. Lastly, based on the above principles we programming the metal plate truss design procedure with Fortran90 language, then we use experiment method to prove the FEM and the procedure's Accuracy.In the thesis, the influence factors upon the metal plate truss stress and slippageare investigated and some valuable conclusions are drowned.
