The penetration mechanism of the novel section (such as equilateral triangle, square) penetrator are analyzed systematically in this paper . As the first step, the launch technology for novel penetrator is given, and the novel projectile satisfying the need of the research is designed. For discovering the penetration mechanism of the novel section penetrator, the mechanisms of novel penetrator normally penetrating semi-infinite Rolled Homogeneous Armor (RHA) target and finite steel target at angles are analyzed by theoretic models, numerical simulations and experiments systematically. The major study content in this paper includes these:(1)The launch technology for novel penetrator is studied. The novel AP for novel penetrator is designed. The intensity of the pivotal parts is authorized.(2)The mechanism of novel penetrator normal penetration into homogeneous target is systematically studied. The relationship between the depth and the V0 is obtained byexperiment. The power of novel penetrator and the power of baseline rod is contrasted by experiment. The variation laws of some important parameters are obtained.(3) The mechanism of novel penetrator penetration at angles into semi-infinite Rolled Homogeneous Armor is studied by simulation and theoretic models. The mechanism of novel penetrator penetration at different angles is analyzed.(4) The mechanism of novel penetrator penetration at angles into finite Rolled Homogeneous Armor is studied. The Ballistic Limit Velocity(25mm/600,35mm/600) of novel penetrator is obtained by experiment. The variation laws of some important parameters of the triangle section rod and the ones of the square section rod are contrasted. The triangle section rod penetration at different point is studied by simulation.
