Of Wuxi City, A New Round Of Urban Master Planning Method

With the establishment of the socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics, great changes have correspondingly taken place in the key factors involved in the compiling of China's current urban planning system, like the background, the foundation and the implementation basis. As one of the two major stages of China's current urban planning system, the compiling of the urban master plan plays a more and more important role in the regulation and control of the distribution of urban space resources and in the coordination of the development of urban and rural areas, meanwhile it also faces unprecedented contradictions and puzzles. Therefore, adjusting the compiling methods of urban master plan according to the change of social background has become the first priority of the current urban planning work. Based on the profound understanding of the compiling theory of urban planning, this thesis analyzes and summarizes the present situation of China's urban construction as well as the background and methods of urban planning, and explores the methods of compiling Wuxi's urban master plan in its process of fast urbanization by drawing on the experience of other countries in this respect. The research conclusions include extending compiling layers, specifying the catalogue of urban land for use and the standard of land for construction, expanding the main body of the compiling work, adding the planning examination procedure, reducing the approval layers, specifying the short-term construction planning work, and so on.
