With the development of the economy and continual improvement of the people's living level, the quality of commuting has a greater and greater effect on the quality of living. Due to the traffic jam, people spend more time than before on the way to and from work every day. The traffic jam also leads to the delay of commercial vehicles during the transportation, resulting in increased transport cost and dissatisfaction of the customers. The traditional way to solve the problem is to increase the traffic infrastructure facilities so as to meet the requirements of the continually developing traffic volume, however, the limited land resources and economic restrictions have made the road construction impossible to reach the extent of satisfaction.ITS (Intelligence Traffic System) is a comprehensive traffic transport management system based on the application of the advanced information technology, data communication technology, electronic sensor technology and computer processing technology etc. which comes into full play in a larger scope and is real-time, accurate and highly efficient. The intelligence vehicle-loaded terminal studied in this task is a terminal facility used for the ITS.The intelligence vehicle-loaded terminal is installed on the vehicle to collect and store various kinds of information about the vehicle. Through the connection of the CAN Bus with the other equipment inside the vehicle, it has the functions of GPS positioning and GPRS wireless data transmission, which plays a great role in the standardization of drivers' behaviour, management of the vehicle companies, safety of people and vehicles and improvement of the service quality. This task is just the work involved in the Shanghai Bus Intelligence Vehicle Terminal Recorder project.Chapter Ⅰ of this essay has first of all analyzed the current situation of the intelligence traffic, the current state of the vehicle-loaded terminal and the background information for the project study; Chapter Ⅱ has studied the main technology needed for this task including CAN Bus technology, GPRS data transmission technology, GPS positioning technology and USB interface technology; Chapter Ⅲ introduces the design of the vehicle-terminal recorder functions including the general function, modular function, functional module block diagram; Chapter Ⅳ mainly describes the system realization including the hardware realization ,software realization and the communication protocol for the system; Chapter Ⅴ and Ⅵ covers the application of the vehicle-terminal recorder in the ITS and its influence on the ITS. Chapter Ⅶ describes debugging and analyzing the system.This essay has completed a study on the prototype of the intelligence vehicle-loaded terminal. The GPRS data transmission between the control center and the vehicle-terminal recorder has been realized. Communication with the LED on the vehicle and GPS positioning are both possible. The collected vehicle data can be downloaded through IC cards and USB. So the anticipated aim has been achieved.
