With the development of the society , people have more demand to the power system. Reactive power is very important to the power system .It refers to the power system's voltage, efficiency and so on. The widely used compensator is SVC which composed by TCR (thyristor controlled reactor) and FC (fix capacitor), but it can't make the power big enough and it's harmonic pollution is also a problem to the power system. So a new style of reactor has been designed and the name is magnetic valve controllable reactor.In this paper : Firstly , we introduce some kinds of reactor and the development of the theory which about the reactive power . Secondly , the basic configuration and the operation principle of the magnetic valve controllable reactor are described . According to the respective working states and circuit topologies , the corresponding state equations are built. The basic performances of the reactor are analyzed on the basis of simulation and experimental comparison . Form the analyze above we know the reactor's control character, voltage-circuit character and so on. Thirdly , we discuss how to improve the speed responsibility . Finally we build a model about the power system . From the simulation we can see the reactor's effect to the power system .
