A kind of Magnetic valve controlled reactor is studied in this thesis.Compared magnetic valve controlled reactor with traditional controllable saturated type, both of their capacity can be regulated in continuously by adjusting core saturation degree. But the former takes advantage of power source. The control current can be obtained from rectifier thyristor, so that the D.C. control source for traditional controllable saturated reactor is not required. The later needs independent D.C. source. The former combines operating winding with controlling winding to reduce energy loss and simplify construction. The later has a structure with separating coils. The former has a part of core cross section smaller than the rest. Only the smaller part will be saturated which works as magnetic valve. Magnetic valve controllable reactor has better performance than traditional type due to its special structure. The advantages include smaller harmonic, volt-ampere characteristic curve which is approximately linear, less loss and respond speed.Magnetic valve controllable reactor is studied both in theory and simulation in the thesis. The review and application of magnetic valve controllable reactor is introduced. Principle of magnetic valve controllable reactor is analyzed. Mathematical model is set up. And on this basis simulation model is set up.Because of the relatively high charging capacitance of Ultra High Voltage (UHV) transmission lines, we fix magnetic valve controllable reactor on UHV lines. Applying closed loop control, using software of MATLAB to simulate effectiveness on compensation, the simulation results demonstrate that the design is effective.
