Based on the research of virtual prototype technology of automatic weapons and taken some large caliber machine gun as research object, the applications of this technology in the field of automatic weapon are investigated. The main contents are as follows: 1. The prototype model of the large caliber machine gun is established based on the theory of rigid multi-body dynamics by using the software of ADAMS. The motion and dynamical characters of relative parts of firing are obtained by simulation. It changes the way of obtaining designed dynamic parameters by tests and makes full use of virtual prototyping technology advantages. The Modeling way is verified by comparing of tests data and is laid the testing foundation to further establish more accurate simulation model. 2. Under the consideration of integration of environmental factors and the influence of soil-spade, the model of virtual prototype in the typical anti-aircraft fire condition is established. The dynamical characters of virtual prototype model are comparatively analyzed between the conditions of direct fire and anti-aircraft fire. 3. Based on the model of rigid multi-body, barrel and mount are flexibly processed. The rigid-flex coupled model is also established. Aimed at launch dynamics, the parameters variations and muzzle dynamic response are obtained. The simulation accuracy is enhanced by comparing results of different simulation environments.
