Shanghai Port's Inter-regional Development Of Container Transport

Shanghai port has made good progress on container transportation in recent years, the container throughput has reached 18,090,000 TEU in 2005, has been the world's third largest container port. However, we should also note that Shanghai port is still facing a shortage of container terminal capacity, international transit of goods, and the difficult development of Lingang Industrial due to narrow natural Land of the port. In the sacred mission of building an international shipping center, the construction and development of Shanghai Port is a vital element, so the port of Shanghai must seek new opportunities, overcome it's own shortcomings and enhance international competitiveness in the future development.The successful experience of some large ports in the world has given us good enlightenment, that is the development of port must break the restriction of administrative division, take the road of trans-regional operating. This text is based on the experience of trans-regional operating of overseas ports for reference, probe the necessity of trans-regional operating for Shanghai port, the mode should be adopted and the problem it will face, finally offer suggestions for the trans-regional operating of Shanghai Port.This text is divided into six parts together:Part one , Introduction, mainly introduce the background, the purpose and meaning to select this title ,and technological route of this text.Part two , Introduce the overview of container transportation development of Shanghai port, analyze its fast-developing reason, probe into the problem it faces in the developmentof container transportation.Part three, Analyze the idea of trans-regional operating of port, analyze necessity and condition of trans-regional management of port, and summarize the successful experience of trans-regional management of overseas port.Part four, Analyze the reason of trans-regional operating Shanghai port.Part five, Probe into the mode of trans-regional operating of Shanghai port. Part six .Analyze obstacle and question of trans-regional operating of Shanghai Port, provide method and suggestion to solve these problems.In the process of the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, Shanghai port must expand its trans-regional operations form, moving forward the direction of international port operator, this is the main conclusion of this paper.
