The electricity energy is the guarantee of national economy development and daily life in the modern society. With the rapid development of the society, contradiction between the demand and requirement of electrical energy comes out. Time-scheduled tariff system, which can change the users'behavior in energy consuming and rationalizes the electricity utilization, is a quite effective and valuable measure to deal with the contraction. For the energy measurement the traditional mechanical electricity meter could no longer meet the requirement of the this new tariff system, the microprocessor-based digital electronic meter becomes the premise of realize the new kind of electrical energy management.To aim at the limitation of current three-phase wattmeter in China, this paper presents a new type of multi-functional three-phase wattmeter based on the technology of MSP430 microprocessor. The e-wattmeter can monitor the consumption of electrical energy effectively, charging by different time with multi kinds of recording ways, and consequently increase the accuracy and the reliability of electrical energy measurement and management. This paper is composed of several parts, and the contents of each part are as following:1. Review the history and the research status of the wattmeter. In this aspect, the necessary and possibility of developing and researching the multi-functional e-meter is introduced.2. According to the existing situation and the technical spec, the framework is established.3. This part designs the hardware structure of this electrical wattmeter. As the center control part of the whole system, MSP430 microprocessor is the core of the system. The system is divided into several parts as following: measurement, communication, data processing and charging and it realizes the relative functions.4. The structure of system software is discussed. The interface programming adopts the advanced visual language. Moreover, the development and debug of MSP430 are mainly discussed. The task of the program is to deal with further processing of data and to realize the management of electrical energy wattmeter.The performance of the wattmeter is evaluated and the result of the testing is satisfying. Conclusion can be drawn that this kind of 1.0 grade high efficiency electrical energy meter will be widely used in the marketing.
