At present, flow meter has been widely used in industrial control field. The traditional flow meter would be installed on the fixed machine as the gauge head and was not convenient for recording data. Most of flow meters just have the function of showing flow information, and point-to-point communication function might be equipped when we require high-performance flow meter. This traditional design approach of flow meter is difficult to meet the demand of modern industry, such as multi-zone and rapid management. Low power consumption, stability and high accuracy are the target of modern flow meter.This paper has proposed a flow meter networking system based on MSP430. In our design, as main control chip of flow meter and convergence terminal, MSP430has realized the collection of pulse, LCD display and convergence terminal communicating with child node and computer. The precision collection of flow pulse has been achieved by utilizing the high stability and accuracy of Hall speed sensors. We can manage flow meters in the region uniformly by taking advantage of RS-485networking characters to implement networking communication between convergence terminal and flow meter of every child node. This paper uses UTC-4432wireless module to send and receive data information, which solved the environment limit to flow meter communication and avoided complex cable layout in wire communication. By communicating with computer, convergence terminal would display flow information of every child node on the computer interface. Communication baud rate, data bits of communication frame format, check bit, stop bit, the number of lower computer child nodes and initial F value can be set on the computer interface. The whole system design has accomplished flow meter networking communication in the region, which possesses excellent features, such as high accuracy, low cost, low power consumption, multi-environment and ad-hoc network.
