With the rapid economic development and the process of urbanization acceleration, urban transportation problems have become increasingly serious. All those cause traffic jams, traffic disorders and others. Particularly, increasing the usage of cars, road load is increasing too. If the traffic mode can be guided more reasonable and traveling be more intensive, it will be the important way to save road resources and improve transport efficiency.The traffic mode split relies on the analysis of the consisting factors and operating characters of various traffic modes. Based on the investigated dates, this paper analyzed the influence degree of traveler characters (like traveler's age, salary level, etc.) and trip characters (like trip distance, time, purpose etc.). Through comparing with different models of traffic mode, MNL methods of disaggregate model is chosen to set up traffic mode choice model. With the Actual situations of Kunming, the traffic mode is selected and combined. In accordance to characteristics of the model and datas, different assignment methods are used. SPSS software is used to calibrate, so we got six function expressions of traffic modes. This paper evaluates the model and parameters, and analyzed the parameters sensitivity.Finally, the paper uses survey data of Kunming to test the model, and got the rates of public transport: bus, car, Bicycle, motorcycle, taxi, walking. Comparing the survey data of 2006, the result shows that the model can fit well in actual situations of Kunming. It can provide the basis for traffic demand forecast and traffic policy formulation in Kunming.
