Pneumatic technology is widely used in industrial automatic field because it has many advantages. When the scale of the pneumatic system becomes complex to a certain degree, there are thousands transmission and control components, actuators and auxiliary components. If there's something wrong with the pneumatic components, it's a hard and time-consuming job to find out them, which may cause the stop production of the whole production line and enormous economic loss. Therefore, the study of fast positioning of the fault components in pneumatic system has important significance and application value.An electronic information collection device is developed based on MCU using the pneumatic, microelectronic, information processing and wireless communication technology. The state information of pneumatic components is sent to PC by wireless data transmission to realize real-time monitoring. Then the rapid positioning of the fault pneumatic components could be realized.The main work and achievements are as follows: (1) In order to study the fault detection mode and recognition method of the pneumatic components, detailed investigation and analysis are carried out. Then the corresponding recognition method and fault detection are proposed. (2) To satisfy the practical needs that the front fault detection part should be simple, rapid and accurate, an information collection electronic device appending to the cylinder is developed. And the device is economical. It establishes the foundation for status detecting and fault location.(3) To avoid long and unorganized routing which may cause new fault after introducing the status detecting element, the point to multipoint wireless communication technology is studied. The wireless communication technology is integrated to the fault detection part to realize multipoint communication of cylinders' state information. (4) A fast fault location experimental system used in pneumatic system is developed. The operation and simulation fault location experiment is made synthetically using various technical researched before. The PC has the function of real-time monitoring, storage and judgment and the fault location system basically attains the purpose of the fast positioning of the fault elements.
