Squeezed branch pile is a new type of pile used in recent years. Developed from straight piles, this kind of pile has various sections formed by constructing some load-carrying plates in the suitable soil layers around the pile. Squeezed branch pile has the merits of strong end supporting force, strong friction resistance on the side of the pile, short body, consuming less material, low construction cost and being able to bear more bending moment. Compared with normal bored pile, it can save the raw material, reduce construction costs effectively and shorten the project time limit. However, as one kind of new technology, its theoretical study is still insufficient and immature, and there are still different opinions on its load transmission character, bearing capacity mechanism and stress-strain character, and the calculation of the greatest bearing capacity of single pile. Therefore, it is necessary to further study the bearing capacity character of squeezed branch pile, and its applications in projects, during which the theory can be combined with practice and be used to instruct the practice, and then it can be a proper, applicable, safe and economic technology. The main works of the thesis are as followed:1. Main characteristics of squeezed branch pile are analyzed theoretically, and the mechanism of load transmission is discussed.2. The mechanism of vertical resisting and uplift resistance has been discussed that provide the theory basis for confirming the bearing capacity of single pile when squeezed branch pile has been designed.3. Seeking for the design theory of squeezed branch pile and because the calculation formula and confluent parameters of present local standards and industry standards are not unified, and the testing results are not completely consistent, therefore this article provides the empirical formulas of squeezed branch single pile vertical bearing capacity that based on a great quantity of project testing results.4. Based on the introduction of construction technology of squeezed branch pile, the construction quality control, foundation pile quality and carrying capacity test are discussed. 5. Project, examples indicate that squeezed branch pile is a new pile type with notable technology, economic effect, worthy of being extended and applied because it can economize on the raw material, reduce construction costs effectively and shorten the project time limit.
