Aiming at the problems that still exist in reactive power compensation controllers, on the basis of analyzing the basic theory and control strategy, a design of a new kind of TSC low-voltage smart reactive power compensation controller based on CS5463 is studied.In hardware design of this controller, three CS5463s are used for measuring three-phase electrical parameters respectively, the SCM of C8051F020 is used as the main control unit to carry out the functions such as simple data processing, reactive power automatic adjustment, voltage detection and control, data storage and display and so on, zero triggered the Silicon Control Rectifier (SCR) controller is used for controlling SCR in the cast-cut equipment, which can restrict the inrush current effectively, and the SCM of AT89C2051 is used for measuring temperature and controlling fan. Furthermore, some external support hardware is designed in this controller, including sampling and filtering circuit, human-machine interface (keyboard, LCD, etc.), serial communication, real time clock, photoelectric isolation, data storage, voltage alarm and so on. In software design, modularization design method is used. Stable software system of this controller is finished from a module to the whole, including more human HMI, more stable and reliable communication handshake agreement is designed between the two SCMS and between the controller and the PC. On the basis of voltage/reactive power of multiplex control strategy, concise and stable procedure code is written in order to achieve control algorithms. Also other functions are designed to drive relevant hardware. This controller has both manual and automatic mode, can control up to 16 groups of capacitor and can be used in the device of three-phase joint compensation, the device of three-phase separate compensation and the device of combined the two under the condition of configure the same capacitor (capacitor used as joint compensation may be different from that used as separate compensation) without second development.Finally a conclusion is drawn about this design and experimental results of this controller, the future possible technical update is analyzed. This controller has the functions of reactive power compensation, voltage detection and control, data transfer, storage and so on. It also has the advantages of low cost, short development cycle and stable and reliable performance, which satisfies reactive power compensation basically at present.
