Recently years, the construction business of our country has made tremendous achievements. In this condition, the education of architectural majors in colleges and universities has achieved rapidly development. However, the developments of architectural majors'education are imbalance, impacted by the construction business and the characteristic of the major. Now these phenomena of architectural majors, thinking highly of practices and paying little attention to theories, are becoming more and more serious in higher vocational and specialized colleges of our country. Which does not accordance with the rules that the development of education of architectural majors, and leads to some shortcomings in teaching at this stage.By analyzing the architectural design courses of higher vocational and specialized colleges, according to personnel training and educational idea, combining the characteristic of the major with the development of students, this article pointed out some problems and studied them deeply. The educational idea of"theory union practice"was introduced into the architectural design courses. And Elementary Architecture, one of these courses, was taken as an example and discussed in detail in this paper.
