Distribution network is the last step of the power network for customer. With the development of the reconstruction of the city and country power network, the requirement for improving the automation level of the city and country power network by computer technology is becoming stronger and stronger. Feeder automation (FA) is an important means to improve running level and management level for the distribution network. The purpose of the FA is to benefit to both distribution companies and customers by improving distribution reliability, power energy equality and service level, optimizing network operation, increasing the economic benefit and management level of the distribution companies.The paper mostly focuses on research about the key technology of the main station for feeder automation of distribution network. The paper sets forth not only architecture structure of the software and hardware system but also communication and database structure for feeder automation main station. To realize the fault location, fault isolation and network reconfiguration, the paper sets forth a math model for distribution device and the method to build the model basing on graphic theory. Finally, the paper describes the system design for fault process, fault simulation and alarm.Basing on the engineer application of WenShan distribution engineer in Yunnan province, the paper constructs a feeder automation main station which is of great applicable and virifies the calculation method for fault location, fault isolation and network reconfiguration.
