The maintenance and repairs of mechanical products are a very important and complicated work, in which a great deal of human and material resources are often necessary to be invested. In building a virtual maintenance system for mechanical products based on network, the fault feature could be collected by internet. Kinds of information about product maintenance could be provided and product maintenance process could be shown dynamically through multimedia technology to the remote users. Therefore, maintenance costs would be saved and maintenance efficiency would be improved significantly.Virtual maintenance system for product architecture is analyzed, as well as B/S model and the involved key technologies. The 3D geometry modeling technology, the characteristics solid modeling technology and the model conversion of the product are also researched. On this basis, the theories about product disassembly sequences are studied based on the web virtual environment, as well as the theories about product disassembly path and fault tree analysis decision.With the thought of software modularization, the functions and data flow of the Web-based virtual machine product maintenance system are analyzed, and system structure model based on three-tier architecture is established. By the use of object-oriented software design and IDEF1 methods, the main components and database of the system model are designed.In view of the Web-based virtual disassembly and assembly of products, the data analytical method about the pre-processing for VRML document of products is studied in depth, and a generated algorithm of knowledge-priority disassembly route sequence is established, with which the definition and storage of the disassembly path is achieved. The SAI technology-script programming interface is adopt to monitor the access incident of the assembly and disassembly scene, and the switch of path is controlled combining with the script, then the dynamic generation of interactive scenes of the assembly and disassembly is realized at last.In the field of the research in web-based failure analysis and processing of the product, the product fault tree is defined and saved in the form of dynamic database. After obtaining the necessary fault characteristics, the support of network-based fault inference engine and explanation machines, the decision analysis and the visual maintenance proposal are made to achieve the transformation from Virtual maintenance to real maintenance in the network environment.Virtual maintenance prototype system of mechanical products is achieved with development tools, such as C#, VS2005, SQL2000 and VRML. With the support of the system, a product case about the interactive virtual maintenance is studied. The example shows that the process of demolition and virtual assembly of the machinery products is simulated in realistic under network environment in the system, and visual maintenance program of products are provided with kinds of multimedia form, such as fax, video, PPT, which were confirmed the correctness and effectiveness of the research methods and techniques.
