With the continuous development and improvement of hydropower unit equipment,more and more new means and new technologies are also born.The traditional training and maintenance methods of hydropower industry can no longer meet the needs of new era hydropower stations.Problems such as limited learning time,limited communication speed and scope and high training cost have gradually emerged.How to train and learn hydropower workers more efficiently and economically has become one of the most critical issues in the current hydropower industry.The virtual reality technology just provides a new solution for the efficient operation of hydropower industry.This paper applies the virtual reality technology to the virtual maintenance training platform of hydraulic turbine governor.SolidWorks is used to build the 3D model of the most important parts and assemblies in the maintenance training process of hydropower station.Two processing tools,including VrmlPad and Deep Exploration,are used to define the nodes,coordinate system and proportion of each model.Using Cortona ActiveX Control and OpenGL technology,a new interactive mode was developed based on Cortona 3d browser.At the same time,the corresponding tutor trainee system is developed according to the different needs of different hydropower station staff.Finally,this paper has completed the development of the virtual maintenance training platform for the hydraulic turbine governor.With the virtual maintenance training platform of hydraulic turbine governor,the hydropower station employees can fully and multi-level learn each part and the whole disassembly and assembly process of hydropower station..The trainees need to check their learning results through the assessment system.This system not only realizes the synchronization of learning and examination,but also successfully differentiates users with different requirements.This can achieve the effect of getting twice the result with half the effort.It is suitable for some domestic hydropower stations which need new training methods and it can help to promote the use of this platform in hydropower industry.This platform solves the problems that have plagued hydropower stations for many years,such as limited training and learning time,small propagation speed and scope,and high training cost.More importantly,the immersion and interactivity of the platform can bring better learning effect for hydropower station employees.Lastly,it is believed that the hydropower industry will be further developed in the near future.
