There is increasing interest in exploring new energy as an approach to alleviate global energy shortage and environmental pollution in an effective and efficient way. Solar energy's cleanness, pollution free, and huge storage .etc make it the focus of public interest. Photovoltaic power generation, the key system part to take advantage of solar energy, is of significance to the design of high efficiency, low cost solar system.That the way to improve solar cells conversion efficiency and realize maximum power point tracking, design DC/DC circuits are systematically addressed in this paper. Main topics are listed below:1. Energy crisis and environmental pollution issues that human being faces nowadays are discussed. A brief review on the study of photovoltaic power system is also provided.2. An overview of photovoltaic power generation system is illustrated; Classification is made according to system functions.3. Model accuracy analysis is made through MATLAB simulation model which builds upon photovoltaic cells output properties. Solar radiation and temperature variation are considered as well.4. A fuzzy control based on the maximum power point tracking algorithm is proposed after comparing existing algorithms.5. Common DC/DC converters are presented. Boost-type DC/DC converter is adopted into the simulation model in order to best enhance system availability.6. MPPT combined with Boost converter is developed under simulation environments. Established simulation model is employed to carry out evaluation. Simulation results show the fuzzy control based MPPT algorithm could quickly track the maximum power point accurately, therefore, has better performance.
