With the sustained development of economy and population, energy and environmental issues are also increasingly serious.Solar energy is been attention by the public people, as a new type of green energy, with its unique advantages. However, due to the high cost of photovoltaic power generation, low efficiency reasons, the photovoltaic power generation has never been popularity. Therefore, we should use the maximum power point tracking control method for photovoltaic in the power generation system, in order to solve the problem of high cost and low efficiency of the photovoltaic power generation system and ensure that the photovoltaic power generation system works in the maximum power output in any case, so as to improve efficiency and reduce costs.In this paper, the stand-alone photovoltaic power generation system as the object of study, and we did a lot of theoretical analysis and simulation study. First, the working principle of a photovoltaic cell is analyzed in detail, on the basis of the equivalent circuit and the output characteristic of photovoltaic cell constructed a mathematical model of the photovoltaic cell. Secondly, a detailed analysis of the three DC-DC converter circuit works, and by simulation and comparison, the selected boost transform circuit as used herein, the DC-DC converter circuit, and analysis of the device parameters. Again, details the most common of several maximum power point tracking method works and their respective strengths and weaknesses, based on perturbation and observation method, its improvement, proposed an improved perturbation and observation method. Finally, build a simulation model of the maximum power point tracking of photovoltaic cells and photovoltaic power generation system, in the case of changes in the external environment through improved perturbation and observation method and perturbation and observation method the Matlab simulation output analysis and comparison, proved that the improved perturbation and observation method practical, reliable, relative to the perturbation and observation method is advanced.
