Public transport Planning is an important part of urban transport master planning .It is very important to the rational layout of the public transport line web and less congested of public transport as well as balance the passengers requirement . Because of the lack of the spatial data and the advanced spatial analyse technology, orthodox public transport planning is deficient, such as the difficulty of maintaining the special data, the lack of the relation between special data and feature data, the shortness to express the result visually. GIS provide the solution to the problem.In this thesis , the author comparison EMME MapInfo two different characteristics software of the GIS . The author construct a Kunming urban public transport model in GIS for Kunming bus characteristics and demand to the status quo and planning, then, analysis and assessment all important public transport indicators. This article focuses on summarizing research results and practical experience has been based on in-depth analysis of GIS database design, public transport specific processes and methods. Proposed a comprehensive GIS model of the whole construction process based on database design,data association methods,entities simulate and abstract,as well as attribute of table design and software construct. In view of the traditional shortcomings of public transport survey methods and data acquisition methods, the thesis propose to improve public transport surveys and optimization method of data, improve the precision and accuracy of public transport model.With the popularization of IC card and improvement of IC card information , the thesis proposes an idea on a large number of bus IC card data in the planning and operational management needs of public transport information, for the foundation for data mining by bus IC card..
