Meter reading and monitoring have been management problems of power system for a long time.Distribution network automation and operation performance improvement is the development direction of power sector. Low efficiency and operation difficulty of traditional manual meter reading method make it lag far behind the power system reforms and modern meter reading requirements. As communication technology progresses, many new meter reading methods have maintained a rapid development and have indeed solved a lot of problems in this field.However,many defects such as high cost,irrational system structure and backward communication technology do exsist.As their different developmental ways, there are no unified and effective regulations in meter reading industry,which limits its development. Advanced meter reading system with low cost, high performance and popularization convenience is the development tendency in future meter reading industry.This dissertation analyzed the development requirements and statemented the design process of the wireless meter reading system based on ARM microprocessor,which mainly included concentrator and collectors. Firstly, the dissertation explored the concept and features of wireless meter reading technology and got clear background and significance,and acquired the current situation at home and abroad of the research subject.On this basis,began with the development needs of the industry, this dissertation proposed a complete, workable system design scheme,introduced communication means and some key functional parts,including concentrator, collector and handheld device,and demonstrated the feseability from the overall structure of the system. Some key hardware circuits of concentrator and the collector were described in detail,such as microcontroller LM3S6916,SD card circuit, ethernet interface, RS485 interface.Meanwhile,PCB design principles and requirements were given.Software description mainly related to operating system uC/OSII, TCP/IP protocol stack transplantation, SD card file system, 645 meter-reading protocol and basic software process of concentrator and collector. Network formation algorithm in wireless meter reading system is the focus of this dissertation.On the basis of the introduction to the meter reading network characteristics and ZigBee routing technology, the dissertation synthesized principles of Cluster-Tree routing and Z-AODV on-demand routing, and illustrated the application of ZigBee routing algorithm in net1work formation and maintenance in this system.As a result, the network topology could be tree or complex mesh.Later,this dissertation gave a brief introduction to debug processes of some important functional units,analyzed the problems encountered in the process and put forward the solutions.In the end,the dissertation concluded the achievements and deficiencies of the system, and prospected its application and development tendency.The system adapts to the development requirements of the wireless meter reading industry.Using the system,we can get power meter data through the GSM network or ethernet automatically and remotely,or through handheld device lively.So the basic function of the system have been realized. After software optimization and network routing algorithm test, the system can serve in power meter reading in the intelligent communities or countryside,and has broad application prospects.
