The medicinal material Flos rosae rugosae comes from the dried buds of Rose rugosa Thunb. that has manifold values. Flos rosae rugosae is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. In most of our country Rose rugosa Thunbs was planted about hundreds of years. Cultivars are universal and Rosa germplasm resources is very rich in our country. This research had finished collection and the identification of rosa germplasm. At the same time, we observed biological characters of 43 rosa rugosa germplasm and primarily evaluated the quality.This experiment collected rosa rugosa germplasm resources from Pingyin, Dingtao in Shandong Province, Yongdeng Kushui in Gansu Province, Weinan in Shanxi Province, Hetian in Xinjiang Province, Meishan in Sichuan Province and Yichun in Heilongjiang Province, we also investigated and analysized ecological environment, climate characters, planting history, major cultivars, major methods of reproduction of the rose's in producing areas.More focus is put on observing biological charzcters of 43 rosa rugosa germplasm in Pingyin Shandong Province, such as plant's height,plant's shape,the colour of stem and so on in order to study rosa germplasm resources in depth.AFLP molecular marker technique is applied for the collected 53 rosa rugosa germplasm to research inheritance diversity, affinity relation and systematic sorting, which established the basic study for the further research of rosa inheritance background, selection , breeding and planting for the new variety. At the same time this kind of method is also used in germplasm resources classification and identification .Adapting infrared technique and by computer assistant analytic technique, IR spectra of Flos rosae rugosae,Flos rosae chinensis and Rosa multiflora could be distinguished each other at 1318cm-1-1205cm-1, the same cultivar of different areas is different in second derivative spetra , different varieties of the same area are similar to each other in IR spectra and second derivative spetra, but we used two dimensional infared spectra is easy to differ them. We applied HPLC technique mensurated the gallic acid's content of of Flos rosae rugosae,Flos rosae chinensis and Rosa, the same cultivar of different areas and the same variety from different areas,different cultivars in the same area and different varieties of the same area. the gallic acid is one of the index components of Flos rosae rugosae , so we can mensurate the content of gallic acid, and primarily evaluated the quality of rosa germplasm.
