Objective:To observe the improvement of symptoms and the distal motor latency (DML) in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) by way of boosting qi and nourishing yin, transforming stasis and freeing the collaterals.Methods:40 patients with DPN were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. All patients were treated with basic treatment of diabets.Treatment group, while using the basic treatment plus TCM decoction Tongluotangtai in the principal of boosting qi and nourishing yin, transforming stasis and freeing the. collaterals, every 150ml,3 times a day for 8 weeks; congtrol group with Methycobal, every 500μg,3 times a day for 8 weeks. The patients'symptoms, signs, tuning fork vibration sense, DML, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin and life quality before and after treatment were observed. And comprehensive efficacy were evaluated. Results:The DML of patients with DPN was significantly higher than normal people. Treatment group, there were 11 cases markedly effective, effective in 8 cases,1 patient. The effective rate was 55%,and total effective rate was 95%.Control group,5 cases markedly effective,10 cases Effective and 5 cases ineffective, markedly effective rate was 25%, total effective rate was 75% and difference was statistically significant.Treatment of boosting qi and nourishing yin, transforming stasis and freeing the collaterals significantly improved symptoms, signs, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, life quality of the patients.DML significantly decreased. Conclusions:The method of boosting qi and nourishing yin, transforming stasis and freeing the collaterals can significantly improve the clinical symptoms, reduce DML and have a good effect on DPN patients.
