The thesis explores and expounds the impact of modern "Chinese Studies in Japan" on Japanese Aggression against China from the perspectives of both the academic nature and aggressive nature of this branch of study in Japan. In terms of its academic history, modern "Chinese studies in Japan" is born out of the traditional Sinology in Japan. It is determined by Japanese cultural context and influenced by European and American cultures in general and European culture in particular. This thesis begins with the discussion of the evolution from sinology to modern "Chinese studies in Japan" in the context of international Chinese studies, and analyzes the research meathods applied as well as trends of thoughts in Japan's modern Chinese studies. From the perspective of the aggressive nature of modern "Chinese Studies in Japan", this thesis elaborates on the the role "modern Chinese studies in Japan" plays in shaping Japanese policy of aggression against China, focusing on the research results of several renowned Japanese scholars in this area, whose academic thoughts are closely related to Japanese policies of "building a prosperous country with a powerful army", Tennoism and Military Fascism. "Chinese Studies in Japan" forms a very important part of Japanes academic resources, but it is also the source of the painful memories of modern Chinese people. Chinese modern history is a history of invasion by foreign powers, the root cause of this is that in the face of the advanced western civilization, the old Chinese state was incapable of resisting foreign invasions. Further elaborated in this paper is the urgency of turning China into a powerful nation and the importance of enhancing mutual understanding between China and Japan.
