A Study On Person Deixis Mordern Chinese

Deixis is one of the most commonly used methods in the communication process, in which a certain pattern is always employed to indicate the aiming point. By doing this, the text can be linked directly to the surroundings such as the people, topic, time and so on, so that the intercommunication could go smoothly. In different languages, usually the personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, some phrases and combinations function as the indications, so does it in China. In Chinese, that is nouns and noun phrases, personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns and the combinations.The dissertation, from the pragmatics and cognitive linguistics perspectives, analyses the personal deixis in details, preliminarily concluding the language point. It goes in five parts, beginning with the introduction of the objective and purpose of the research, the general idea and the means applied, and a survey of the works done by scholars before, then followed by the next three sections, the personal deixis. It explains the conventional and unconventional usages of the first person deixis, the second person deixis and the third person deixis respectively. The fifth portion is the conclusion, to draw the main idea, and at the same time to figure out the limitation and the questions to be explored further.
