To promote the sustainable development of Chinese volleyball sport and to maintain the competence of Chinese volleyball athletes, this article, based on data of 13-17 year-old women volleyball athletes in National High-level Reserved Athletes Training Camp from the year 2004 to 2008, makes a dynamic research on the body shape and physical characteristics of Chinese junior women volleyball athletes by the means of method of historical documents, method of interview and method of statistics and so on. The results show.the followings:1. Chinese junior women volleyball athletes'height changes stably. Trends of tall figure are found in young athletes. Athletes from Youth A and B are basically of the same height as adults. Both teams display certain progress in strength training. Their Claye index has changed for the better;2. In selecting Chinese junior women volleyball athletes, much attention is paid to the balance between athlete's height and hand-and-foot space, thence finger space is often neglected;3. Steady progress has been observed in the performance of 30-meter running, 30-second double rope swinging, but such progress still fails to catch up with the standard. The coach should pay more attention on physical training as well as the improvement of training method in order to boost the full-scale development of the junior women volleyball athletes'physical characteristics, especially for speed-wise and strength-wise;4. Chinese junior women volleyball athletes are showing progress in V-shape running and 2kg solid ball throwing. Nonetheless, the unstable performance of athletes from Youth A and B may cloud the selection process in the following stages5. The average performance of the afore-mentioned athletes varies violently in standing long jump. It is, therefore, advisable to focus more on the training of lumbar abdominal strength and lower limb power;6. The average performance of afore-mentioned athletes undulates in run-up height touch. and is in the level of failure. Unscientific training method accounts for the regressing performances of some athletes. However, the best performances from Youth A and B are close to the world level.
